Micky Slim Special

Micky Slim is the Birmingham bred bay boy that has been at the forefront of the filthy House scene for the last 7 years.

Micky’s residency at Judgement Sundays in Ibiza and being the owner of Bombsquad records are just the tip of the Ice Berg. He is one of the most sort after dj’s and producers in the world and for good reason! His unique brand of bass heavy dirty acid house has earned him the respect and admiration of everybody involved in the house scene. His productions have seen numerous plays on radio 1 and have been played by the likes of Judge Jules and Pete Tong to name a few. With releases on labels such as Cr2 and most recently a track due out on Laidback Luke’s label nothing looks to small for Micky Slim!
Micky has torn apart clubs from Russia to Australia and everywhere in between and is playing the Global Gathering Main stage this year!!

Micky Slim first smashed his way onto the scene in 2006 when he earned his residency at Birmingham based clubnight Godskitchen where he could be seen  playing regularly to a rapturous home crowd alongside the likes of Erick Morillo, Chris Lake, Richard Dinsdale, James Zabiela and Fergie. This residency secured him his debut appearance at Globlal Gathering which would see him have the oppurtuniy of a life time. With James Zabiela stuck in traffic the BBC asked Micky if they could record his set live to broadcast for the essential mix,  Micky duly responded by delivering 45 minutes full of filthy acid, wonky electro and twisted tech house to a worldwide audience. This truly was the start of Micky’s world domination. As if 2006 wasn’t a big enough year for him  he set up his label Bombsqaud which was dedicated to releasing dirty house and which has seen releases from some of the hottest producers around. Since then Micky has gone from strength to strength playing the world over with residencies at  Judgement Sundays in Ibiza, a set at Global Gathering each year and releases one some of the biggest labels around!!

Micky slim has influenced a whole generation of producers! Without his sound there wouldn’t be producers like Twocker, Stupid Fresh, Heavy Feet, Calvertron, Will bailey etc. All of which Micky has given his full support to and most of which have released tracks on his label. Micky was one of the first producers to use massive bass sounds with glitchy chopped up vocals and synth stabs.  In my opinon he was one of the pioneers of the fidget house movement and certainly his label Bombsquad can be credited with having released the majority of the fidget House classics. While the fidget sound may have lost favour Micky hasn’t and he continues to dominate the club scene and inspire a new generation of prodcuers.

Micky created a new sound that made him stand apart from everyone else and that is why in my opinon he is one of the best producer in the world.

Download this mix he recorded for his up and coming appearance at Wakestock, its sick!!

Porter Robinson Special

Unlikely doesn’t even begin to describe 18 year old Porter Robinsons sudden rise to the forefront of the Electro house Scene.

Six Months ago no one new who Porter Robinson was! Fast forward six months and he has had a beatport number 1 hit with his original ‘Say My Name’ and charted with every release since. He Has produced tracks with Lazy Rich and gained support from some of the biggest d js in the world such as Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, David Guetta, The Crystal Method and Armand Van Helden to name a few. This support has also earned him shows across the globe. All of this before he finished high School!!

Porter Robinson started music production at the age of 13 and has never looked back. After getting in touch with Dirtyloud they sent his, at the time unreleased original, 'Say My name' to Lazy Rich who loved the track and has since collaborated with Porter. The track in question topped the beatport charts for several weeks and turned heads in the music industry with Wolfgang Gartner (one of Porters heroes) following him on Twitter!

What makes Porter Robinson so different is his cutting edge sound!! He blends the best of seemingly distinct genres into a style uniquely his own. He uses massive electro hooks paired with nasty dubstep warbles and shimmering trance breakdowns to create his own brand of  hard-hitting house music.

One thing I can promise you is we will be hearing a lot more from this guy and hes only going to get better and bigger so keep your eyes peeled Porter Robinson looks set for world domination!!

Millions Like Us-Don't Let Go (Far Too Loud remix)

This is another absolute smasher of a track from Far Too Loud. He utilizes the vocals and synthline from the original to create an atmospheric build up and then drops into a gut wrenching chopped up bassline that uses cacthy electro hooks and dubstep sound with equal measure. But the highlight of the track for me is the dubstep breakdown in the middle of the track and then the drop back into straight 4 beat which is done with perfection!! this track is truly awesome!!

Jaksaw Ft Loc-E - Bang Bang! (Original Mix)

This an absolute banger from one half of Defunct aka Jaksaw and featuring badass vocal stylings of Loc-E!! This track uses the vocals over a typically bouncy filthy Defucnt style bassline to create an absolutey sick filthy house track! The breakdown uses the vocals to great effect and will be having people singing along before it drops back into the wobbly, Bouncy Bassline!! An absolutely awesome track and will have my full support!!

The Filthy House Revolution

Filthy House, Dirty Electro or fidget or wot eva you want to call it has for the last couple of years been put on the backburner, with genres like Tech House and Dubstep dominating the club scene.

When I started clubbing Filthy House music was quite literally at the fore front of the club scene with dj’s and producers like Twocker, Stupid Fresh, Bass Kleph, Ed kane, Micky Slim and many others pulling in huge crowds and literally tearing the roof off!

But now it seems that people no longer have the pasison for the type of bassline that is literally going to make your legs and arms fly off in different directions while you face contorts like you’ve been sucking on a lemon.

So for the past couple years we have been stuck listening to the same old prancey Tech House, that lets face it all sounds the same. The one genre where we could still listen to a good bassline was dubstep which for a time was great but now even that seems to be running out of steam with the commercial success of the genre its seems to have lost the undergorund appeal it once had!

Meanwhile filthy house and fidget has  been progressing and developing as a genre behind the scenes with a lot less producers creating the sound.

However how can a genre that draws influence from so many different styles such as House, garage, dubstep etc stay buried for long! The answer is it cant, and recently I think this has been apparent! If you look at the beatport Electro House chart you will see at least a quarter of the tracks have sick bassllines. They may not sound like the old school filth we were used to listening to but nevertheless they draw influence from those sounds.

Artists such as Dirty loud (www.soundcloud.com/dirtyloud), Lazy Rich  (www.soundcloud.com/lazy-rich) and Porter Robinson and of course the one and only Miles Dyson (www.soundcloud.com/miles-dyson) have taken the Electro House charts by storm.

This is only the beginning my friends, did we need a break from Filthy house, yes but only so it can come back bigger, better and badder! The Revolution is here and you cant have a revolution if the music’s not right!

Miles Dyson Special

If you don’t know who Miles Dyson is then you must have been living on the moon for the last 10 years!!

Miles Dyson is one of the most respected and sort after dj’s and producers in the current dance scene. With the majority of his releases making it into the top 10 on the beatport electro House charts and having hit the top spot on both the electro house and overall beatport chart with numerous releases!! Most recently his song I-tune was number 1 on the beatport charts for several weeks!!

There is a reason for Miles’s success he never fails to deliver banging tracks that stand out from other productions. He has created his own unique sound of filthy hard hitting basslines, grinding electro with Techy beats and amazing atmospheric build ups.

He has also rocked clubs all over the world from Australia to England and everywhere in between.  His skills behind the decks are equal to his production skills!!

He first started djing at the age of 13 and gained his first club residency at the young age of 15. By the age of 16 he had played to a crowd of 400,00 people!! There only seemed one way to go and that was up.  In 2002 he set up his own record label Plasmapool Which is now one of the biggest record labels in the world for House Music seeing most of its releases hitting the Beatport Charts!

Not only is he a world class producer and dj he is also a pioneer of the electro sound. Many of the acts that have emerged in the Filthy house scene over the last year have all been influenced by his sound. If you listen to acts like Dirtyloud, Porter Robinson, Darth and Vader or Far Too Loud to name a few you will be able to hear Miles Dyson’ s influence in there music. Without Miles Dyson I don’t believe the current Filthy House scene would exist. But despite this he manages to keep his sound fresh and stay one step ahead of the competition.

Miles Dyson has truly lasted the test of time!! With his first release in 2002 he is still going strong 10 years later and im sure he’ll still be going strong in another 10 years time!

As we speak he is touring  South America, USA and Canada. I also now from speaking to him recently that he has been given a particularly special remix pack….but we cant talk about that;) Just take my word for it its going 2 be huge!!!

Miles Dyson truly is the Godfather of FILTH!
