The Filthy House Revolution

Filthy House, Dirty Electro or fidget or wot eva you want to call it has for the last couple of years been put on the backburner, with genres like Tech House and Dubstep dominating the club scene.

When I started clubbing Filthy House music was quite literally at the fore front of the club scene with dj’s and producers like Twocker, Stupid Fresh, Bass Kleph, Ed kane, Micky Slim and many others pulling in huge crowds and literally tearing the roof off!

But now it seems that people no longer have the pasison for the type of bassline that is literally going to make your legs and arms fly off in different directions while you face contorts like you’ve been sucking on a lemon.

So for the past couple years we have been stuck listening to the same old prancey Tech House, that lets face it all sounds the same. The one genre where we could still listen to a good bassline was dubstep which for a time was great but now even that seems to be running out of steam with the commercial success of the genre its seems to have lost the undergorund appeal it once had!

Meanwhile filthy house and fidget has  been progressing and developing as a genre behind the scenes with a lot less producers creating the sound.

However how can a genre that draws influence from so many different styles such as House, garage, dubstep etc stay buried for long! The answer is it cant, and recently I think this has been apparent! If you look at the beatport Electro House chart you will see at least a quarter of the tracks have sick bassllines. They may not sound like the old school filth we were used to listening to but nevertheless they draw influence from those sounds.

Artists such as Dirty loud (www.soundcloud.com/dirtyloud), Lazy Rich  (www.soundcloud.com/lazy-rich) and Porter Robinson and of course the one and only Miles Dyson (www.soundcloud.com/miles-dyson) have taken the Electro House charts by storm.

This is only the beginning my friends, did we need a break from Filthy house, yes but only so it can come back bigger, better and badder! The Revolution is here and you cant have a revolution if the music’s not right!
